Optimal Energy Management at the Transfo site

The Transfo site in Zwevegem was once home to a large power plant. Today, it has been transformed into a vibrant community featuring offices, a sports complex, apartments, and more. Transfo aspires to provide this entire community with own, locally produced renewable energy.

To support this vision, we deployed the Foresight Energy Management System (EMS) for the energy community. The EMS automatically manages and matches an EV charging station, a heat pump, a large battery, a combined heat and power (CHP) unit, and solar panels. By leveraging advanced technologies and data analysis, the system optimizes energy consumption, reduces operational costs, and minimizes the ecological footprint of the Transfo site.

Optimized Industrial Cooling

For several vegetable processing companies the Foresight Energy Management System reduces energy costs by optimally making use of the existing thermal buffers (freezers) and local solar power production. At these sites, the cooling of industrial freezers is optimally managed, taking into account local solar energy production, weather conditions, factory output, and fluctuations in electricity prices (both consumption and injection).

The EMS also curtails the solar power production when appropriate.

Optimizing Energy Assets at a Belgian Hospital

Modern healthcare facilities face a particular energy challenge: managing a diverse, fragmented mix of technical assets—ranging from traditional boilers and CHPs to heat pumps, chillers, batteries, solar installations, EV chargers and sometimes even wind power.

To address this complexity, a major Belgian hospital is currently testing the Foresight Energy Management System (EMS) across its multi-technology infrastructure. The system leverages predictive analytics to forecast heating, cooling, and power demands, and renewable power production. It also factors in the energy price evolution in the coming hours, and the local energy storage capabilities.

By smart-dispatching local storage and generation, the system directly drives down utility costs and reduces the facility's environmental impact.

Energy Management of Kortrijk Business Park

In the Kortrijk Business Park, the Foresight Energy Management System was added to an existing software solution that manages the electrical vehicle (EV) charging station to ensure maximal self-consumption of the electricity produced by the solar panels and to shift the remaining needed EV charging to moments when the grid-prices are lowest. All while ensuring the EVs are charged in time as requested.

Tom Casteur, project manager of Kortrijk Business Park developer Vesta commented: "Prophesea was particularly proactive and helpful in providing solutions. I am very satisfied with what we have achieved together."
